FlixMe Data Policy
This data and privacy policy has been provided to better serve those who are concerned with how their 'Personally Identifiable Information' (PII) is being used online. PII, as described in US privacy law and information security, is information that can be used on its own or with other information to identify, contact, or locate a single person, or to identify an individual in context. Please read our privacy policy carefully to get a clear understanding of how we collect, use, protect or otherwise handle your Personally Identifiable Information in accordance with our service.

What personal information do we collect from the people that use our service?

Personal and Creator Accounts

We collect several types of info that allows you to signup and for the app to work properly for you such as location and how you will use the app. Some info is required for use of the service.

  • Email Address
  • Username
  • Display Name (what you want to be known as)
  • Date of birth for age verification
  • Approximate location (City & State) (Optional and can be hidden)
  • Phone contacts for sharing (Optional)

Monetization Programs

Our monetization programs allows creators to offer content access via paid subscriptions and also accept tips from their channel followers. Likewise the affiliate program provides users a way to earn revenue through creator and customer referrals.

To join a monetization program, you must apply directly on our site here for creators and here for affilates.

Note: Even if you already have another Stripe account, it cannot be used with our platform. A new one must be created under our platform account for you to get paid through FlixMe.


When do we collect information?

We collect information from you when you register with our service, enter information on our service or grant access to your phone data such as phone contacts.

How do we use your information?

We may use the information we collect from you when you register with our service, accessing your account after you sign in, remembering your account info to keep you logged in for future visits, or use certain other service features in the following ways:

  • To personalize your experience and to allow us to deliver the type of content in which you are most interested.
  • To start a creator account to be able to accept paid subscriptions from channel followers.
  • To start an affiliate account to earn revenue for referring customers.
  • To administer a contest, promotion, survey or other service feature.
We use your phone contacts to send invitations to your contacts when you use the Invite User feature. This feature is done in real time so your contacts are never stored. It's accessed each time you want to use this feature.

How do we protect your information?

We use Transport Layer Security (TLS) technology when accessing personal information.

Your personal information is contained behind secured networks and is only accessible by a limited number of persons who have special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential. Also, all sensitive information you supply is encrypted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology.

We implement a variety of security measures when a user enters, submits, or accesses their information to maintain the safety of your personal information. Also, some information is stored in an encrypted state. 

Monetization Accounts

For creator and affiliate accounts, all personal information such as legal name, social security, etc is transmitted directly to our payment processor and is never stored on FlixMe servers at any given time. All info is stored with our PCI compliant payment processor Stripe. We use unique tokens to retrieve and manage your data with Stripe.

Do we use 'cookies'?

Yes. Cookies are small files that a site or its service provider transfers to your computer's hard drive through your Web browser (if you allow) that enables the site's or service provider's systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information. For instance, we use cookies to remember your login. Without cookies enabled your session will not be remembered and the account login function will not work. They are also used to help us understand your preferences based on previous or current site activity, which enables us to provide you with improved services. We also may use cookies to help us compile aggregate data about site traffic and site interaction so that we can offer better site experiences and tools in the future.

This does not include our payment processors e.g. (Stripe) and other parties who assist us in operating our service, conducting our business, or serving our users, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. We may also release information when its release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect ours or others' rights, property or safety. 

However, non-personally identifiable visitor information may be provided to other parties for marketing, advertising, or other uses.

Occasionally, at our discretion, we may include or offer third-party products or services on our website. These third-party sites have separate and independent privacy policies. We, therefore, have no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these linked sites. Nonetheless, we seek to protect the integrity of our site and welcome any feedback about these sites.

California Online Privacy Protection Act

CalOPPA is the first state law in the nation to require commercial websites and online services to post a privacy policy. COPPA (Children Online Privacy Protection Act)

When it comes to the collection of personal information from children under the age of 13 years old, the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) puts parents in control. The Federal Trade Commission, United States' consumer protection agency, enforces the COPPA Rule, which spells out what operators of websites and online services must do to protect children's privacy and safety online.

We do not specifically market to children under the age of 13 years old and the Service is not intended for anyone under 17 years old.

Fair Information Practices

The Fair Information Practices Principles form the backbone of privacy law in the United States and the concepts they include have played a significant role in the development of data protection laws around the globe. Understanding the Fair Information Practice Principles and how they should be implemented is critical to comply with the various privacy laws that protect personal information.

CAN-SPAM Act

The CAN-SPAM Act is a law that sets the rules for commercial email, establishes requirements for commercial messages, gives recipients the right to have emails stopped from being sent to them, and spells out tough penalties for violations.
